Arcus Talent Scholarship is a scholarship scheme designed to attract and retain talent at the postgraduate level from around the world. In this scholarship, they are looking for talented graduates and students who want to pursue a master's or Doctoral Degree at one of the Arqus Partner Universities. This scholarship is composed of a subsistence allowance of 14,00.00 Euros per month to cover the student's living cost, medical insurance, and materials allowance. It also covers the tuition fee at the student's entrance university. This scholarship would also support students with fewer opportunities under this scholarship scheme by providing a special needs fund of 250 Euros per month.

In this scholarship priority will be given to refugees/asylum seekers, students with fewer opportunities, and applicants with a bachelor's or Master's degree not obtained at the Arqus University where they will undertake the Master's or doctoral studies, or where they can be enrolled.

Arqus Scholarship Application 2024

To apply for the scholarship, you can follow some steps: Below we provide all the important steps for the Arqus Scholarship Application 2024:

  • The first call, aimed at doctoral students only, is open from 31 March 2023 to 31 May 2023 (23:59 CEST).
  • The second call, aimed at Master’s students only, is open from 3 May 2023 to 3 July 2023 (23:59 CEST).
  • The third call, aimed at Master’s students only, is open from 2 April 2024 to 30 June 2024 (23:59 CEST)

Arqus Scholarship 2024 Admission Requirements

Please find below the Admission Requirements that applicants need to meet to be considered for the Arqus Scholarship:

  • You must be selected or have applied for a Master’s or doctoral program at one of the Arqus universities and have a minimum overall/average grade of B according to the ECTS grading system. Please note that you are not eligible for the scholarship if you are already enrolled in the relevant Master’s or doctoral program. The only exceptions to this rule are first-year doctoral students enrolled at Vilnius University and the University of Wroclaw, who can apply as well.
  • You must have a clear idea of how mobility at a second Arqus university can be integrated into your study program and elaborate it in your motivation statement.
  • You must also have a clear idea of how to participate actively in Arqus activities and act as an Arqus Ambassador. Please describe in your motivation statement what your role as an Arqus Ambassador could look like.
  • The Arqus European University Alliance assesses evidence of language proficiency in one of the languages of the Alliance from a level B2 according to the CEFR as merit.

Arqus Scholarship 2024 Required Documents

Confirmation of application to the entrance university You must provide an official confirmation that you have applied/been selected for a Master’s or a doctoral program at one of the Arqus universities.
Motivation statement You will have to enter your motivation statement directly into the online application. We recommend that you write it in advance – max. 4,000 characters. Please remember to also explain the format of the compulsory mobility and your active role as an Arqus Ambassador.
PhD research proposal (doctoral students only) Please upload your PhD research proposal to the online application.
BA/MA diploma/degree certificate* Please upload the diploma/degree certificate of your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with which you applied for admission to the respective Arqus university.
Transcript of records/diploma supplement Please upload the transcript of records/diploma supplement of your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree which you presented for admission to the respective Arqus university.
Letter of recommendation Please upload a signed letter of recommendation from an academic in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program.
Curriculum Vitae (CV) Please upload your CV including practical experiences and extra-curricular activities.
Passport Please upload a copy of the ID page with a photograph of your passport.
Students with fewer opportunities (if applicable) Please confirm according to the categories for students with fewer opportunities under the section “Conditions of the Scholarship”.
Language Certificate (merit) Please upload the proof of language proficiency (level B2 or higher) in one of the languages of the Alliance.

Arqus Scholarship 2024 Selection Criteria

To apply for the scholarship, you can follow some steps: Below we provide all the important steps for the Arqus Scholarship Selection Criteria:

Arcus European University Alliance is aware of the amount of effort and time that all applicants will have invested in completing the application. However, please note that this is a highly competitive application and selection process.

For verification, evaluation, and selection of the submitted applications, the Selection Committee will follow the selection criteria set by the Coalition. Please note that priority will be given to refugees/asylum seekers, low-opportunity students, and applicants who have not received a prior degree at Arcus University where they will pursue master's or doctoral studies.

Selection Criteria

  • Priority groups: 0 (no) to 1 (yes):
    • refugee/asylum seeker
    • the applicant with fewer opportunities
    • applicant with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree not obtained at the Arqus University where the Master’s or doctoral studies will be undertaken
  • academic performance/GPA: 0 (weak) to 3 (excellent)
  • academic background (educational qualifications/previous formal training in the respective areas of knowledge): 0 (weak) to 3 (excellent)
  • motivation (incl. compulsory mobility and active participation in Arqus initiatives): 0 (weak) to 2 (good)
  • recommendation letter: 0 (very general) to 1 (supportive)
  • CV (incl. practical experiences, extra-curricular activities): 0 (weak) to 2 (outstanding)
  • Proficiency in one of the Arqus languages (B2 or higher) and the field of study/research (i.e., whether it is related to one of the focus areas of the Alliance: Climate Change & Sustainability Development; Artificial Intelligence & Digital Transformation; European Identity & Heritage) will be considered as a merit.

The selection committee is composed of academics from the Arcus Alliance, who have been asked to serve on the committee as experts due to their years of experience in the high-quality education of doctoral and master's students.

The selection results will be published on the Arcus website along with name, family name, nationality, and average score at the end of July 2024.

Please note that the award of the scholarship is dependent on admission to a degree program at the relevant Arcus partner university.

Arqus Scholarship 2024 Deadline

As per the reports, the Arqus Scholarship 2024's last date is fixed to be  30 June 2024.
