Duration and Value of ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship:
1. Centrally Administered Full-Term Doctoral Fellowship:
- The fellowship is for two years or until Ph.D. submission at the University.
- Fellowship Value: Rs-20000/- per month, Contingency Grant: Rs-200000/- per annum.
- The Doctoral Fellow must be a full-time bonafide Ph.D. student at the affiliating University throughout the fellowship.
2. Institutional Doctoral Full-Term Fellowship:
- Same duration and value as the Centrally Administered Full-Term Doctoral Fellowship.
3. Short-Term Doctoral Fellowship:
- Duration: Six months or until Ph.D. submission at the University.
- Fellowship Value: Rs-20000/- per month, Contingency Grant: Rs-10,000/- for the 6-month duration.
4. Contingency Grant:
- A consolidated grant for meeting contingency expenses of Ph.D., not exceeding Rs-62,500/- during the fellowship.
Joining and Release of Fellowship:
Centrally Administered Full-Term Doctoral Fellowship:
- The scholar must join within two weeks of the award letter by submitting the necessary documents.
- Fellowship and contingency grants are released in installments.
Eligibility Criteria for Fellowship:
- Confirmed Ph.D. registration.
- Age limit: Not more than 40 years, with a 5-year relaxation for SC/ST/disabled persons.
- Minimum 45% marks in graduation and 55% in post-graduation or equivalent grades in any social science discipline.
- Relaxation for SC/ST candidates.
- Candidates who have already availed certain fellowships are not eligible.
Procedure for Award:
- Applications scrutinized and short-listed by ICSSR expert committees.
- The expert committee assesses short-listed proposals based on defined parameters.
