During this program, international students are educated about tropical medicine as well as travel diseases. Taking part in this program will provide you with the opportunity to learn more about the field of medicine.
In particular, you will have the opportunity to work directly with medical professionals. The fieldwork will take place in developing countries, typically under very difficult conditions, in addition to the weekly meetings.
International Medicine Fellowships are designed for medical professionals planning extended fieldwork in the developing world, whether they will direct different teams abroad or serve as a medical advisor to those teams when they encounter problems before, during, or after their time abroad.
This project involves work with both faculty in the lab and field workers. The treatment and research will be conducted utilizing both the resources brought in as well as those locally available.
A fellowship is available to benefit students who plan on enrolling in Graduate-level programs in the field of Emergency Medicine at the Augusta University Medical College of Georgia. Applications for the scholarship are now being accepted.
Fellows of International Medicine Fellowship who have completed their training will be expected to have taken responsibility for organizing a destination, obtaining supplies, finding volunteers, and directing fieldwork while abroad.

Candidates selected for the fellowship will receive funding to train in a specialty at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University for one year.
An applicant for an international medicine fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia must have completed an accredited residency in emergency medicine and must have received credentials from the American Board of Medical Examiners in Emergency Medicine.
