The National Merit Scholarship Program is an American scholarship competition for recognition and scholarships. The program is administered by the National School Science Center (NMSC), a private non-profit organization based in Evanston, Illinois. This program starts in the year 1955.

The NMSC portion of the PSAT/NMSQT score report shows the student's answers to the questions required for admission and whether the student's selection score qualifies for the National Scholarship Program. Students are encouraged to review this section of their score report and contact NMSC immediately if answers to admissions questions are incorrect or changed.
