Summer research opportunities are available at the Hamburg or Zeuthen (near Berlin) sites of DESY to undergraduate students in physics or related natural science disciplines. As a result of the Covid pandemic, two main components of the 2023 program have been modified.

DESY Summer Student Program:

Undergraduate students in physics, related natural science disciplines, or computing the possibility to participate in the research can Apply. Both Male and Female students from all over the world can apply for DESY Summer Program. Selected applicants join in the day-to-day work of research clubs at the DESY Laboratory in Hamburg or Zeuthen (Berlin).

You may study in USA through University Of Pennsylvania Scholarships program.

You may apply for Bachelor scholarships in Norway for the year 2023.

Eligibility Criteria of DESY Summer Student Program in Germany:

• The event is open only to students with a vaccination certificate that meets EU standards.
• It is expected that students participating in on-site projects will work 39 hours per week.
• At least three years of full-time, university-level study in physics, related natural science disciplines, or computer science should have been completed by the summer of 2023. It is important to note that most of the projects they offer are for physics students.
• Students who are at the following two stages in summer 2023 are the intended audience: - obtaining their Bachelor degree or about to do so - In addition to having a Bachelor's degree, they are currently enrolled in their Master's degree program. - Students who have already earned a master's degree or who will do so by summer 2023 will not be considered.
• It is not allowed for applicants to have previously attended DESY as a summer student
• The only students we can accept for the on-site projects are students who are enrolled at a university for the whole duration of the summer student program due to regulations for paid traineeships in Germany.
• It is very important that all applicants have some basic computer skills and a good working knowledge of English.
• It is expected that the students will participate for the entire duration of the program.

Benefits of the DESY Summer Student Program in Germany:

• In addition to subsistence allowance (1200 Euro per month), partial travel reimbursement, and accommodations at a reduced rate at the DESY Hostel, the participants will be provided with travel reimbursement.
• 850 euro per month.
