Truman Scholarship 2024 

The Truman Scholarship program aims to honour and equip the upcoming generation of leaders in public service. Candidates are awarded a maximum of $30,000 for their graduate studies and gain access to a variety of Scholar programming, including priority admission and financial assistance from public service graduate programs, as well as guidance and mentorship from other public service leaders. Additionally, Scholars are given preferred hiring opportunities within the federal government.

Truman Scholarship 2024 Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship:

• Must be a citizen of the United States, a US National local of American Samoa, or expect their citizenship by the date of the award.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited institution based in the United States.
• Candidates who plan to graduate in four years or more should be in their second to last year of school, while those who plan to graduate in three years or fewer should be in their final year of school.
• Nominees for transfer or community college applicants must be nominated by either their current or former institution of study. Schools can only nominate up to four candidates, plus an additional three transfer nominations.
• Must be planning to attend graduate school in pursuit of a career in public service. The Foundation encourages candidates to take time between undergraduate and graduate school, so applicants need not commit to going immediately.

Scholars can be:

• Scholars pursue any major likely to lead to public service careers;
• Scholars be of any age;
• Scholars are interested in an undergraduate degree other than an MBA;
• To consider domestic or international programs for their graduate education.

Truman Scholarship 2024 Acceptance Rate

According to our searches, the Truman Scholarship is a highly competitive national award. The Foundation receives more than 800 applications for the 55 to 65 Scholarships that are granted each year. It's worth noting that these applications exclude students who compete on their campus for one of their school's four nominations.
