For international undergraduate students from a variety of nations and regions, including India, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, Tunisia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States, the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is a competitive program. The course provides a 12-week study internship overseen by professors from Canadian universities in a range of academic fields, including humanities, social sciences, science, engineering, and mathematics. Submissions for the 2024 course are no longer being accepted. A prestigious and fiercely competitive program called MITACS Globalink links gifted students with top Canadian researchers. With the help of this program, you can collaborate on worthwhile projects, develop lifelong worldwide contacts, and obtain practical research experience. Presented by Canadian Universities Nation Canada Level Undergraduate and Graduate Financial Assistance Internship period is fully funded and lasts 12 weeks between May 1 and October 31, 2024.between May 1 and July 31, 2024, for entry into Canada 21 September 2023 at 1 PM PT (1:30 AM IST, 22 September 2023).

The Globalink internship is open to students from these countries. Globalink Research Internships are available in all areas and for a range of projects.

You must be enrolled at one of the recognized institutions.

  • Not less than 18 years of age is required.
  • A passport must be good through January 2025 at the very least.
  • If you are without a valid passport, you are allowed to apply.
  • Apply to a maximum of seven projects, with at least three of the chosen projects coming from different Canadian provinces.

  • No citizenship prerequisites
  • Suitable candidates:
  • undergraduates enrolled full-time or in a combined undergraduate master's program
  • Master's program students are not eligible.
  • between June 2025 and July 2026 for graduation
  • All disciplines are eligible.
  • 80 percent is the minimal overall grade point average.

The internships at Globalink will include:

  • Completely paid tuition

Be patient as the Mitacs applicant portal may take a moment or two to load at first. Your email address and password are required for registration. You will be on your application portal once you log in. The voyage has begun! Please follow each step as I will do my best to make everything clear so that you won't run into any problems!

  1. Person Details section: Here, you will be asked for information such as your full name (spell it exactly as it appears on your passport), date of birth, home country, and other essentials.
  2. Section for educational details: Here, you must provide information about your current education, such the name of your university, where it is located, your GPA, etc.
  3. SOP - Describe your technical background, accomplishments, and expectations for this internship. Also, mention any future plans you may have, such as whether you intend to continue your education in California and how this internship will help you develop. Put all of these components together to create an honest narrative. You must make your application stand out in just 100 words.
  4. Research Rationale - In this section, you can describe your research interests and how they relate to the initiatives you have chosen. If you have published any work, you can also mention whether you have experience working on research-based projects as an intern or have exposure to the industry.
  5. The most crucial component of your application is your projects. We'll go into more detail about this in a forthcoming blog post.
  6. Documents: You must submit your CV and transcripts from your institution (you must apply to your school of choice for these; the process takes a week; as a result, make sure you get them as soon as possible before the application deadline; I had to visit my university during the pandemic to get one; plan accordingly.)

How long will the internship last?

During the summer, internships often last 12 to 24 weeks. Interns collaborate extensively with their host academics throughout this period on a range of research topics, gaining practical experience and advancing existing research programs.
